Pet Peeve: Pulling Out in Front of an RV

We are driving down the road in our RV (motorhome) minding our own business, eating  our hostess raspberry filled powdered donuts, which is a  long-established tradition for any of our road trips, with me humming Christmas music 🙂 and some dweeb pulls out in front of us; if my husband was telling the story you would replace the word dweeb with numb nuts.

Now there is powdered donuts, coffee, juice, binoculars, maps, cell phones, and an old grumpy hard of hearing farting dog flying all over the place; thank you very much…NOT! I don’t have many pet peeves other than the QUIT TALKING/TEXTING ON THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING pet peeve , but the pulling out in front of an RV is one of the ” God almighty, your lucky Auntie RV doesn’t know who you are, cuz if I did, I’d be callin your mother” biggest pet peeves I have!!

Seriously dweebs and dweebettes of the world, do you not understand when there is a big honkin RV coming down the road, minding their own business  (going the speed limit) and you pull out in front of them their life flashes before their eyes?!  I wonder if you realize how close YOU are to having an RV plow you down; trying to stop or slow down a “big honkin RV is not the same as trying to stop or slow down a car!

What is one of your pet peeve while driving?

  1. Enjoyed your posts, Auntie RV! I’ve seen people texting while driving right through a 4-way stop. Very dangerous!

    • So why are the police not going after these dweebs that are breaking the law by texting or using the phone; it would be money in their pocket? I so want to do a Gommer Pile, “CITIZENS ARREST! CITIZENS ARREST!!” on them…and then call their mother! 🙂

  2. Some dweeb nuts just don’t grasp the basic laws of physics. The tires on these big rigs aren’t that much different than their little cars when it gets down to stopping. Sure, there is more rubber on the road with all those big tires, but, the weight of those behemoths is like stoping a motorcycle using bicycle tires. The physics just won’t work.
I’ve seen semi-trucks lock up their tires and start to jack-knife due to someone slooooowly pulling out in front of them. Scary!!

In my case, that pretty much covers most everything I see. The worst/more common I can think of is they that are getting ready for work while driving. We’ve all seen them. The man shaving, the woman putting on the makeup, reading/writing a report for the morning meeting., texting, or talking. Worse than the worse that I’ve seen are the “experts at driving” while not paying attention to the road. No hands on the wheel while they multi-task getting ready for work.
Maybe they are getting caught up on their social web sites since they won’t have time at work to twitter or blog.

    Oh Lordy…Save Us!

    • I have lost a few good donuts to these dweebs pulling out in front of us in our RV and I am so greatful that that is the worst we personally have experienced!

I knew someone that would read his Louie Lamour books while driving. Can you say crazy?!

  3. Good job Auntie RV. I was entertained and sparked at the same time. Yes, I agree, people who text and drive, drive me crazy too, but so do the vain little creatures who put on their make-up while steering with their knees! And let us not forget about the animal lovers out there who let there dogs ride unsecured in the back of a pickup truck, grrrrr!

    • I agree Ms. thetravelersconnection,
with the dog in the back of a pick-up truck, but lets add the doggies that are hanging out the window, on the drivers lap.

On the news tonight, they showed the police are stopping people that tailgate or pull in to close in front of a semi; wish they would mention Motorhomes, trailers and campers as part of their news story.

  4. Auntie RV!
I love camping and RVing, and your sense of humor!

My pet peeve: people driving down the freeway who don’t move left into the next lane when they see you trying to merge onto the freeway and they’re in some stupid little car and you have 7 tons of machinery you’re manuevering! Tonnage!

Another pet peeve: people driving down a freeway on ramp and don’t use their gas pedal, or check over their shoulder to see if someone is in the lane of traffic and can’t move left to the next lane. It has a gas pedal for a reason…Use it!
