No Humor: “Ad” in my blog!

Posted on

I come on here, after a rest and I find ads that I did not okay on my blog…not humorous! I did not get an e-mail or notice of any kind about putting ads in my blog. What adds to this pet peeve is my annoyance that the ad(s) are about “Brain training games”!! Is someone trying to tell me something here?? (scrunching nose!) For the record, I do not want ADS on my blog unless I get a kick back from them and personally okay them! :)Stink eye for those who put ads on my blog without my approval!

Anyone with knowledge of how to remove these ads or know who to contact about it I would be much appreciated.

Just an FYI on my Husband; he is off his blood pressure and triglycerides meds. Although, his blood pressure is great, his tri’s are still high; it was found that the tri meds were the reason for the kidney failure. The DR. is monitoring him closely which is reassuring.

Also, I am already writing my lists for camping (RV) season. 🙂 I can’t wait!

Life: Eventful Past Week

However you want to put it, “stuff” happens, for the good or the bad; stuff happens. You can’t change most of life’s surprises and sometimes you don’t want to even acknowledge those surprises.

Although, the week started out enjoyable. My husband and I went to the dollar store to get some stocking stuffers. I told him to go find three items to put in HIS stocking. His grin was enormous, as if I had given him a prime rib dinner. My plan was to preoccupy him so I could get my shopping done. Here he comes with three items and he tells me why he chose those items and then off he goes again. Here he comes again, “I’m swapping out this for that” and he’s gone again. This happened about four times. When he was all done with his choices, he felt the need to follow me and show me every item he thought that “I” should look at or buy. “What about this?” or “this is cool…look!”, but then when his tummy starts grumbling with hunger, so does he. Shopping ended.

Next day…off to my husbands doctor to evaluate his blood work, which has been ever-changing. A doctor that we hadn’t seen before walks through the door. “Why are we here today?” he asks. We explain; first we came for his blood pressure, then blood work shows his triglycerides were 1129 and noticed his protein is low. So they put him on meds for the tri’s. Told us to come back in 3 months. Okay..then redo blood work. They say,”hmm, your your tri’s are okay (129), but your potassium is 6.(high)and your blood pressure(100/63 and pulse (52) is low”. They make us go back two days later to check potassium again. “We never heard the results for that, can you tell us?” we asked. He looks over Hubs chart and says “your creatinine is high…which means kidney failure” and then he looks at both of us and sees that we are in shock and then says, “I’m sure you HAVE heard that before, right?” I couldn’t even look at my hubby; I said ” a.. NO! We had never heard THAT before. He told me to scoot my chair closer to him ( oh crud!) as he tells us that it could be from all the surgery meds (ibuprofen) during the 6 surgeries since 2005 or something to do with his blood pressure/pulse. He wanted to take a ultrasound of his kidneys, but we don’t have insurance, so he changed his meds and we have to go back Jan 24th to see if it helped. If it didn’t help he said that we will HAVE to do the ultrasound no matter what. We walked out of the doctor’s office numb and thinking…Merry Christmas! 😦

Ultimately, this Christmas took on a different feel and it seemed to be more about making THIS Christmas special and memorable, not about the gifts so much. We laughed more, baked more cookies, Cinnamon rolls, listened to Christmas music, watched all the Christmas shows on TV, a lot of gazing out the window, and we’ve been praying A LOT!

If any of you reading this could send up a pray on my husbands behalf, it would be much appreciated. 🙂

Humor: With a Bit of Annoyance

I find it humorous and a little bit annoying when I am in peaceful la la land of sleep and my sweet endearing husband’s voice is faintly heard; his voice becomes louder and louder until I hear his grumbling clearly. What, you might ask would be so urgent, for him to wake me up? You would think it would be something huge to wake a person early early in the morning, right?

What is he telling me? “Kitty just threw-up a fur ball!”; meaning…get up and clean it up before “I” throw-up” 🙂 Ha ha, with a hint of grumble grumble from me.

Gotta love my hunky man!

Life: Best Christmas Present

When looking back at all the Christmas presents I have received, there are a few that stand out above the rest. I usually ask for certain gifts and then I end up getting something close to what I asked for. Because of this reason, I try to write down the exact name, store, best price, color, and size; last year, my son did give me an apron that I had been asking for, for years and I LOVED it!

However, this one year, I was at my brothers for Christmas Eve and when the festivities were winding down my sister-in-law brought over to me a small wrapped present and with a smile she quietly told me that this was from my brother and to NOT open it until I got home. I felt like a young child again; all the way home I held that small gift like it was the most precious valuable gift ever and wondered what this gift was that my brother had given me. We hadn’t exchanged gifts for many years. Well, yes we would do the popcorn tin gift for the family, but nothing personal like this.

Quickly we unpacked all the food and goodies from the car and of course, my brother’s present did not leave my hands. I sat down on the couch and cradled this small gift, almost afraid to open it. My Boys told me to “OPEN IT ALREADY!” With my husband and sons gathered around me, I opened it; WAAAAAHHHH sob sob WAAAH! My family looked at me like what the heck! It was not a valuable gift to anyone else, but only to me and my brother. It was a pink plastic Hansel and Gretal thermometer in which Hansel and Gretal was on one side (meaning good weather) and a the witch (meaning bad weather) on the other side.

I explained to my family while sniffling and sobbing…when my Grandma had passed away many years ago, my mom had asked me if there was something I wanted from Grandma’s house. Yes, there was one thing; however, no one there could find it. I said, “Mom. it has always been hung by the front door. I am sure, there was a ring around where it should have been. Years had gone by and I had thought I would never see it again. That is why I bawled and bawled after opening this small gift from my brother, which now I understand why they wanted me to NOT open it at their house. This was one of the most precious gifts ever given to me for Christmas.

I hope that all of you will get/give a gift or have gotten a gift as precious as mine was. It is not the price of the gift that makes it priceless, it is the love and thought behind it, that makes it priceless.

Life: Be Still…

Some days I am just so amazed when God shows his love to me and also to my family and then there are days when I feel like the only sound I hear is crickets when I pray. However, today was a day that our family had been dreading and God came through as he usually does; all is well.

Some times we think that when we hear crickets when praying that that means God is not listening, God doesn’t think you are worthy, or you don’t think you are worthy. When most of the time God just wants you to trust that he does love you and he wants you to remember to, “Be Still and Know I am God”. We seem to think that we can figure out or deal with an issue by letting it consume us, with sleepless nights and all. Letting an issue consume you will not solve anything, although, we still do it. And yet, God never gives up on us. He quietly says, “Be Still…and Know I am God” and he then waits. If you are like me, restlessness takes over and the what if’s show up; what if I do this or that. Then, a quiet calm comes over me and I say, “okay, I understand” and I give it to God, and if you are like me, many times it is the night before the dreaded day, in which I become enlightened.

There will be things going on in your life in which there is nothing you can do about how the outcome turns out. Those are the times when being still is needed most. I can say for me, I can stew and stress about something I have no control over or I can be still and know he is God. I end up kicking myself for wasting my time and sleep, when I could have just listened to his words, “Be Still and Know I am God”.

Thank you God, for waiting for a fool, who would rather stew about it than just to be still and to give it to you from the get-go.

Life: My Playlist of the Day

If you are around me any given day, you will likely hear a noise emanating from my direction. It doesn’t matter where I am at and it doesn’t matter who is around. I am 95% of the time either humming or singing a song. What do I hum or sing? Usually, it is the last song I heard or a Christmas song. If it is the last song I heard, basically, I sing over and over the ONE sentence I know from that song; I sometimes do a little dance if I am at home to go with the music. My family takes such joy in turning up the music to songs that you would never think Auntie RV would sing or hum, knowing it will be stuck in my head until the next song comes along. There I am walking down the isle of the grocery store humming, “I’m too sexy for my shirt” or singing, “if you…hum hum…you should a put a ring on it…oh oh oh oh oh oh”. I am not sure if the people that I walk by are smiling because they think it is humorous or they think, “just smile and walk quickly by the weird lady”.

This was my playlist of the day (yesterday)…

Walkin in a Winter Wonderland

Every day I’m shuffling (shuff el lin)

Chestnuts roasting by an open fire

I’m trouble ya’ll

ba-da-da your addicted to love

all the other kids with their…humm humm..better run, better run…ba-da-da..humm humm

I kissed a girl…humm humm,  (oh crud, I have to go to the store, get this out of my head! Nice husband turns on radio…)

Hum hum…sugar on meeeee, in the name of love (Oh for the love of Pete! Husband gets stink eye)

Oh Holy Night

Every day I’m Shuff el lin…be.wa..wa (my attempt to make the techno sound)

It’s the most wonderful time of the year

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas

Every day I’m shuff el lin (Auntie RV’s dance moves)

I don’t know the name of it , but it is the Charlie Brown Christmas song and I hum it while getting ready for bed.

Yep, my life is one big ole humming songfest. 🙂

Life: Escapades of Thanksgiving/Black Friday…Thursday

I am sorry for not blogging sooner about my Thanksgiving escapades. I am just now catching up on my sleep and brain activity. As my twenty-seven year old son said,”Mom, I can see your hamster has fallen off its wheel”, after my many attempts to carry on a conversation. However, my hamster is now back on his wheel and I no longer fall asleep in mid-sentence.

I bundled up at 4:30 am for my first outing of the Thanksgiving Black Friday…Thursday…Sunday, well you get what I mean. 🙂 Just as I am getting ready to go my husband says, “we are out of milk  can you get some?” I told him I would pick some up at Kmart when I am there. Oh heck no, he doesn’t “like” the taste of Kmarts milk! He would have seen a big ole stink eye had he walked in the room, I can tell you that! So I had to take a detour to Winco to see if they were open, on my way to Kmart. Yaaeee, they are open until 3 pm; will go back after Kmart shopping.

After standing in line with ten other early shoppers the door finally opens at Kmart. Almost everything I was searching for was hard to find, only a few of each, or the price wasn’t what was shown on Web site. I am trying to stay in the ho ho holiday spirit, but when Auntie RV gets up at 4:30am sometimes her half-full cup starts to spring a leak just a tad. So I start humming a Christmas song… “its the most wonderful time of the year” to try to plug up the leak. Not working! Nonetheless, I am at the check out when I notice the register  “geesh, I must not have calculated very well!”” The checker then lets me see the read-out. She had charged me twice for TWO different items…”its the MOST wonderful TIME of the year!” I also ended up telling her to take one of the other items off  as it wasn’t the item I had wanted and I had second thoughts on. I look at my watch and  oh geesh, I should be home getting the turkey in the oven! I text my son, “tell Dad to take the turkey out. I will be right home after picking up the milk!” I get home and notice the turkey isn’t out. However, I also notice that I had not changed my watch to daylight savings time; Yaaaeeee, I have forty minutes to put my feet up.

I have to say, Thanksgiving dinner went fantastic. I got to use my Temptation Casserole dishes (black style) from QVC which I got for Christmas last year, everything looked so purddy, the food tasted yumsterlicious and the left-overs fit so nice in the fridge.I rested up while my sons played some tank game on the Wii for hours and hours AND hours. I fell asleep on the couch, woke up and thought it had to be 11 pm. Nope, it was 8:30. Ha ha!

I did not do the midnight shopping, so I was good to go for the 4 am shopping. First Lowes to pick up the six  98 cent poinsettias and hubby’s gift, where I lost one of my favorite brown gloves at the check out. 😦 Then off to Target, to use the Target gift card that my son had given me for my birthday, to now buy him something for Christmas. Last stop is to Rite Aid to get the $3.88 popcorn tins. Are you kidding me?! They don’t open til 7 am and it is 5:55 am.  Don’t they understand that my hamster is having issues and is about to fly off its wheel at any moment? As a result, I head home and wait until they open.  I get there and grab the popcorn tins, stroll by the M&M’s and Kisses that I would love to get and yet, no; you have to buy 4 to get the good price and heck NO Auntie RV does not buy things unless they are at the good price.

I return home and my hamster is no where  to be seen and I try to rest while the boys are still playing the tank game. THEN…husband gets all grumpy…guess why?? …come one guess?

“This is the first time we (meaning me) have not put up the Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving!” he grumbles. Guess what I did?…come on guess? Yep, stink eye alllllll the way!

And yet I keep reminding myself, “this is the MOST wonderful TIME of the year.” 🙂

Life: Black Friday…Thursday?

Yes, I am one of those who stand in line freezing my tooshie off just to get my beloved family gifts. However, I don’t know what to think about this “new” time for black Friday. I mean, it could be good or bad; it’s all how you want to look at it. I could grumble about that NOW I will have to get up early(the open at 6am) to go to Kmart on Thanksgiving, then come home and do turkey day, read all the black Friday adds (even though I have gone online already), go to Target before they open at midnight and stand in line there which it is supposed to rain, then figure out what I should do between midnight and the 5 am opening of Lowes. But I shall take the high road. I will become Awesome Auntie RV and be thankful that not all the gifts I am looking for are at stores that have the same opening time; oh how that would suck.

I am pretty sneaky on how I prepare for my outing. I make a Christmas list and not just any list this is a secret code list; so no one can decipher it and some times it is so good I forget what it means. Oye! For instance, last year I bought batteries, so what did I write for my code? Baseball! I get to the store and draw a blank. I had everything on my list except Baseball! WTH..heck (auntie Rv doesn’t swear, well at least in public. Heh heh). Anywho…I figured it out and laughed and laughed. Of course BAT-teries…baseball…bat. BTW, Lowes has AA batteries on sale for $4.00 for 30 batteries and poinsettia’s for 99 cents each on black Friday! 🙂

I am having a real problem find gifts for my 15 year old as he is toooo old for action figures anymore and I just can’t do the gift card thing. I mean what fun is that for the giver? Who cares about the receiver; I want to be Santa DARN IT! 🙂

I will let you know how all this different time crap works out…er I mean I will tell you of my happy shopping, fixing a whole meal myself, cleaning myself, going standing in line for the midnight opening and then the 5 am opening. It WILL be a joy, right? 🙂

Life: Gas Can Walking

When I am driving down the road and I see this, my face turns into a sad smiley face. 😦 and I say “awh”. They always seem to be on the other side of the road, freeway, or there is no room to stop. I am talking about that pitiful pitiful walk… the gas can walking walk. Having a gas can in hand is not always seen … but you know. Usually, it is a cold rainy yucky day when you see someone walking down the road with their head held low and you just know that walk is not just a walk for them. Emotions are running high as to how life sucks right now for them and then there is the “oh God, please let someone stop to help me out” gas can walking prayer.

I think we all have been a gas can walker at one time or another. So, next time you see a vacant automobile and then the gas can walking walker down the road, help him or her out if you can.(Ladies, for safety reasons, leave this job to the guys, if it is a guy walking)
